Perfection.

These two are just the sweetest, aren’t they? They will be wed at JM Cellars this summer. Can’t wait!

Then, I thought man, this would be the PERFECT spot for a wedding.

A few years later, Nadja emails me to shoot her sister Sara and Sara’s fiance Nathan’s wedding this summer.

Guess where the wedding’s at? I am so excited to be part of this day!

Sara, Nathan and I spent a sunny Sunday morning at Queen Anne’s Parsons Gardens for their engagement pictures. Just look at how cute these two are.

I flew down to San Diego to photograph their big day, but without first getting them to do a short “engagement” session the day before.

Their backyard wedding was fashioned on the couples loves: furry friends and fine food. From the eclectic menu (designed and catered by Herban Feast, who I think really went all out with this one!) based on Lauren and Randy’s favorite foods to their stationery and the decor around their home, the wedding was truly unique and reflected both their personalities, despite being from opposite sides of the continent.

And he did.

And she said yes.

And then, they were wed.

What more can I say Lissa and Casey? You have style. You have class. You have Jackson, the most beautiful boy child in the world.

And now you have each other.

Congrats. May your days be filled with love, laughter and friendship, until the Harlem Shake returns in vogue once again.

And then THIS happened.

Which turned into this.

But never a surprise wedding.

When Andy was asked what he wanted most for his birthday, and his answer to his girlfriend Jamie was “To marry you!”, that put the wheels in Jamie’s mind in motion.

Roping in the help of Andy’s office assistant Adriana, Pastor Dave (who was kinda worried what the groom might think), Jamie’s awesome dad, Jamie’s best friend Rachel and yours truly, we pulled off what has to be the most stressful surprise of which I’ve ever had the privilege of being a part.

Everything was planned to the minute. Andy’s and Jamie’s kids were rounded up and “sent to school” (but they were actually being whisked off by grandpa from school to congregate at Carkeek Park, where the elopement was to be held). Adriana had to direct clueless old me around Amazon’s offices in Seattle to make sure I was at the right place at the right time to catch Andy reading Jamie and their kids’ surprise sign “Andy, will you marry me, TODAY?!”. And a very cool Jamie had to deliver Andy to work like any other day.

And it all came together like a dream.

Jamie’s daughter Aurelie joins in during the ceremony and exclaims, “Now please go and make us a baby!!” Precious!!!

After the wedding, we headed over to Woodland Park Zoo, where Jamie and Andy had their first date, which was actually a playdate with their kids. Now it’s a regular hangout for all of them. It was a perfect place for their first photos as husband and wife.

Congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs Kimbrough!

I cannot say it enough. Back when it was just a glimmer in my eye, never did I imagine that I’d have ten thousand friends and strangers supporting me in this life’s work.
