How does the wedding of a couple of dog lovers look like?
All you have to do is check out Kathryn and Max’s garden do from last summer. Featured on Style Me Pretty earlier this year, this has got to be one of the cutest weddings I’ve ever shot.
Kathryn and Max are a pair of anime, video-game loving kids who fell in love and got a dog named Dug. Years later, Max proposed and here they are.
How did you guys meet?
Kathryn: We met at an anime music chatroom. I’d asked if anyone wanted to play a Massively Multiplayer Online game, and Max answered the call. We technically first met when we went to Kumoricon months after playing games together online. Kumoricon is an anime convention in Portland. We even shared a room even though we were technically still just friends at that point. I was living in Seattle, while Max was in Corvallis.
It was awkward. Obviously we liked each other but no one wanted to admit it!
After the both of them ‘fessed up over Skype, their first “real” date was a biking/camping trip.
How did Dug come into the picture?
Dug came into the picture years later when we moved in together in Eugene. I had been looking online for a puppy for a while and found Dug on Craigslist while we were up in Seattle visiting my mom. Max saidwe’d only keep him if he’s a good fit. When we both held puppy Dug in our arms, the deal was sealed. It’s a puppy!
How did your wedding become “Dug themed”?
It kind of just happened. We didn’t really know what we wanted at the beginning, just like laid-back, relaxed, other very vague ideas. Lisa (our planner) found out we had a dog so she told us we could bring him to our meeting. I thought she was kidding so our second meeting she had like a bed, water, toys, everything laid out and we hadn’t brought Dug. We were like SO EMBARRASSED AND SAD so we brought Dug to like all our meetings after that. With Dug being at the meetings and getting all the attention, it kinda came about organically. Or it was Lisa’s plan all along!
What do you love most about your wedding?
Our loved ones being with us, the food and karaoke!
Where did you guys go for your honeymoon?
We ate our way around Japan (of course!).
There are so many faves it was hard to narrow these images down to a select few. Here are my favorite highlights!
