Jake and Caitlin were wed one rainy and windy October day. Their Great Hall at Greenlake wedding was an intimate but festive family affair and a labor of love mostly DIY with a backdrop made of paper floral backdrops by Caitlin’s mom and aunts.
I first met Jake and Caitlin through my friend Heather, Jake’s stepmom. I was doing a workshop and looking for a couple to be the star of it, and Heather thought Jake and Caitlin would be a great match. While the workshop portion didn’t pan out, the wedding itself was a blast despite the gloomy weather. Caitlin’s sunny personality and Jake’s obvious excitement made the day one of the most beautiful celebrations I’ve ever had the pleasure of documenting.
“My favorite part of the wedding was seeing our friends and family dance at the end of the night,” said Jake.
When asked what tips they had for couples planning their own wedding, Caitlin answered, “Keep it simple. Don’t sweat the small stuff.”
The best part (for me)
Also, closing in on ten years of shooting weddings, Caitlin walked down with her dad down the aisle to Brandi Carlile’s The Story, which is perhaps one of my all-time favorite tunes in the world. Needless to say, I was crying. Heck, everyone was crying. It was perfect.
Congratulations Jake and Caitlin! Here are some of my favorites from the wedding.

Kids played hide and go seek as the grownups set up the venue for Caitlin and Jake’s wedding day.
I love this image because Jake’s stepdad and aunt accidentally “dabbed” (this would tickle my kids to no end). Don’t know what dabbing is? Here’s a sample. You’ve been warned!
Another clear favorite, a moment shared between Caitlin and her dad right before the wedding ceremony.
