Spring of this year, I had the opportunity to photograph a brand new Seattle wedding venue, namely the Dragonfly Estate right where I live in beautiful Duvall, Washington.
Owned and managed by the Hamilton family, this ten-acre venue is rustic, secluded and perfect for an intimate event or wedding for close family and friends. It was first used as a venue by a Hamilton wedding. With a beautiful lake and mature foliage and forest growth including a weeping willow, evergreens and ferns, the photography opportunities were endless!
Located 15 minutes from downtown Duvall, Dragonfly is one of our town’s best kept wedding venue secrets. A Costco is about 30 minutes away in the town of Woodinville for all your food supplies, as well as a Safeway closer by in our town.
The venue offers the use of their grounds, where you can bring in your own caterers and other services such as tentage and rentals. According to owner and manager Ronda Hamilton, you can rent this venue starting at $2,600, which includes one night’s use of the cabin. The maximum capacity is 100, with room for 20 vehicles. You can also camp to a max of 4 RVs.
The 2,140sf cabin itself, which is great for getting ready for the bride, groom and a small wedding party, offers three rooms in which you can stay for the weekend. It also has a good-sized kitchen, a sizeable deck and lots of good natural light in its tastefully furnished living room.
Is that copper bathtub not to die for?
Wai-Ching Studios, one of Seattle’s most respect wedding couture designers, generously lent us her gowns for the shoot. Known for their colors and unique designs, they suited our Woodland Faerie theme perfectly!
We also had the pleasure of Duvall’s own florist extraordinaire’s lovely arrangements and bouquets, some of which were foraged from the grounds by designer Schatzi herself.
Look at the lovely moss-covered ties for the bouquets!
Also present for the shoot was the most intricate fairy-woodland themed cake specially designed by Tamara, owner of The Cakewalk Shop.
All over the cake was a mossy green food-colored graham cracker crumble! I don’t think anyone would dare to eat it because it’s too beautiful.
