There’s a cute little story that goes with how I met Yena and Matt.
You see, a lifetime ago, I used to be a writer and Matt’s dad Ben, used to work for Microsoft Malaysia as its GM. We met just in industry circles, as tech was my beat. Who would’ve guessed that many years later, we’d both move to Seattle with our respective families?
So some time in 2012, my husband told me that Ben’s son was getting married, and that he’d asked for my rates. After that was done, I hadn’t heard back from Ben. Months later, I got an inquiry from a Yena and Matt, and set about meeting them as I usually do. After 15 minutes of chatting, I mentioned that I was a Malaysian. With a start, Matt told me that he was one as well, as his parents were from Malaysia. And then it dawned on me.
“Is your dad by any chance Benedict Lee?”
Matt had a stunned look on his face.
“Yes he is.”
“Oh my God.”
Long story short, it was meant to be. Of all the talented photographers here in the Pacific Northwest, Yena and Matt found me on the interwebs, Matt’s dad’s old friend. Fate certainly has a flair for the dramatic.
It was such an honor, Ben and June, to be the photographer of Yena and Matt’s wedding. Thanks for putting your trust in me. This has surely been a highlight of my career!

Such a beautiful venue, Thornewood Castle.
