We had the pleasure of photographing L&J’s Portal game themed wedding and it was SUCH a treat. I played the game YEARS ago and since I am still very much a video-game nerd, I definitely enjoyed this wedding a lot more than I care to admit :).
Yes, you heard that right! L&J are huge cosplayers and fans of video games, especially Portal. They also both work in the gaming industry. When they both pitched the idea to me a year before the wedding when they booked, I was thrilled and excited for them.
J&L made and DIYed every aspect of their celebration, down to 3D-printing and re-creating Portal guns, Companion Cubes, and even ordering life-sized turrets for their cakes. They even made one of the two turret cakes real (a reference only those who played the game will get) so guests could guess which it was.
J&L made sure to cater to their guests, most of whom enjoyed games. There were comfy lounges where kids and adults alike could play games like Mario Bros and of course, Portal, and a full-on LAN party was also going on. Outside, they hired Laser Tag Live to set up an obstacle laser tag game.
For their first dance, J&L had a routine as well that they had practiced all year, with the grand finale of bride L carrying J on her shoulders!
All in all, it was a really unique celebration true to the characters of L&J. Congrats again on your wedding!
