I shoot quite a few Vietnamese weddings. They are festive, colorful and LONG. We cover something like 12-15 hours from as early as 8am, which means we’re up and out the door by 6.30am. Which means the bride and groom are up by around 5am. By about noon, everyone is pretty out of it unless we’re pounding 5-hour-energy continuously. As such, few Vietnamese weddings have a couple and wedding party that’s happy and pretty by dinner time.
Brian and Tuvy are one such couple. Big smiles, bigger hearts, biggest ever laughter, these guys made the day go by so fast. They and their posse were wonderful to photograph, their day packed with festivities and action (and libations), that there was not a dull moment to be found.
I mean, how many fantastic expressions does Tuvy have? I have lost count.
Tuvy and Brian are laid back, they did not sweat the small stuff, they had their best pals surrounding them helping, fussing and taking care of them all day. During the traditional table-to-table visit, their guests had the funniest – and funnest – games. SO MANY MOMENTS! It was like a buffet of candids.
So there you go. A great recipe for a fantastic and fun Vietnamese wedding, even when it was 15 hours long.
Thanks so much for letting me and Jessica tag along, guys. It was one helluva party.
