When Amanda and John hired me, their only wish was not to have any posed photos apart from the family formals. Everything was to be shot documentary-style, in black and white or color. They’d enjoyed my documentary work very much and wanted their photos to be as Magnum and reportage-style as possible.
This kind of freedom makes me giddy, to be honest. I shot this wedding in a way I knew the bride and groom would appreciate it, and in a way I truly enjoyed photography. Composing and waiting as long as I’d like since the ceremony was an hour long, with loads of funny and endearing moments made by guests, their children and old folks alike. While the church had rules about flash photography and not entering the Iconostasis (I think that’s what it’s called), I had free reign. Nothing makes me happier than when clients trust my vision completely. Was so much fun it might as well be cheating.
Greek orthodox weddings now have a place in my heart.
Thanks for trusting me entirely, Amanda and John! I am so glad you love your images as much as I do!
